Quotes from Malone in article on Trent Lott Center:
"We intend to use the building and its resources to attract people of caliber, such as world-class scholars and practitioners in economic development."

Good God. As if any world class scholars would just ignore the firing of two tenured professors, numerous violations of academic best practices, a library that has been turned into a for-profit coffeeshop, a tier-drop, SACS probation (add others) and simply come to USM for the Trent Lott Center building.
PS--What are "practitioners in economic development?" Do you need a license to do this? Or perhaps a fake PhD from the only ED school in the world (i.e. USM)?
Just an example of all the world class scholars that department has lost over the last few years. It'll be hard getting back to prominence with such a brain drain, even with the new building to attract "scholars" for that ePhD program.
I often wonder why the $250K Economist ads didn't mention all of the activities surround Nitchampburg next to the blurb about the New Orleans Bowl.

Here's more from the article:
Lumberton businessman Sonny Campbell is looking forward to the annual Lumberton Economic Development Council banquet Friday.
Area Development Partnership president Angie Dvorak of Hattiesburg will be the guest speaker.
"She will be real instrumental in bringing people together," said Campbell, president of Campbell's Commod-ities.
"She has the expertise to help us develop our city into the better place for our families that we strive for," said banquet committee chairman Paul Ockmand, who said he expects 100 to 135 people to attend.
My question is this: what sort of expertise does AD have in developing much of anything or bringing anyone together? The only example of her bringing people together that I know was probably the way she brought all of the USM faculty together in solidarity against her while she was VP of Research.

This is the eternal question, isn't it Truth? And you aren't the first to pose it. I don't know the lady from Adam (Eve?), but find it literally mind-boggling that she's come so far from her days as a 19 year old graduate student, landing a succession of increasingly impressive managerial posts with such a sparse resume, and absolutely no training in either management or her alleged field of expertise, ED. We'll never know the full story of course, but I have to think that AD must be one of the world's greatest self-promoters or have some other remarkable skill set that doesn't show up on a conventional vita. Over the years I've screened and hired a number of individuals for positions similar to those she's snared, and I dare say I wouldn't even have invited her back for a second interview, based on her resume. Scratching my old gray head....

According to one of her on-line bios, AD has throughout her "professional career" been involved in advanced computer and telecommunications technologies, first as a developer and later as a project manager." Developer? What's that about? Is she claiming some technical expertise in these areas? She also claims to have over 20 years of classroom teaching experience. I don't know her age, but wouldn't she have to be pushing 80 to have done all the things she claims, in addition to completing four graduate degrees? I'd like to see a chronology of her many accomplishments. Anybody seen one?
Some of these questions about AD's vita came up on the old Fire Shelby board.
Apart from that 1994 message board contribution about getting a law degree to "pump" her resume, the discussion brought many questions about the earliest portion of her vita, up to her PhD in English from Florida State. It seemed unlikely that she was a graduate Teaching Assistant at 19 years of age, as she has claimed, or that she taught in as many places at once during the 1980s as her vita says she did. But no one could turn up any hard data.

We would love to see some of her source code. Of course, she may have signed nondisclosure agreements -- sorta like the one covering her resume'.
Now, if "project management" in telecom means schmoozing with Worldcom bigwigs, yeah, I can see that...

Robert,
Last summer I heard I rumor that there was some retired prof. who had personally taken it upon himself to try to find out the truth about Angie's resume. Anyone know whatever happened to him? (Maybe he was one of those fictional adjunct interim risk managers of Judge Cooley.) I seem to recall that continuing ed(?) once offered a course on how to be a private investigator. Perhaps a grad of the program would donate their services. What I can't understand is how, after everything that has happened, she still has so many people snowed.

This is alarming news indeed. I fear that one of AD's black ops agents may have extinguished the amateur investigator. Nothing would surprise me. These people are a creepy lot.
