Word is that more than half of the faculty of one of the larger CoAL departments were just interviewing with other schools at their recent major conference - could be many more departures to announce in the coming two months.

The Modern Language Association meets right after Christmas. . . .
But Becky Woodrick's position was not "downsized"--in the end, following some impulse that's way beyond my ability to analyze (though I'm grateful he had it!), SFT told Faculty Senate that they could decide whether the full-time position should be kept or not. FacSen naturally said that yes, we should have a full-time AA/EEO officer. And so we still do, and Ms. Woodrick is still on the job.
What shameful disregard for staff this business shows! SFT makes a "decision" to downsize the position, tells Ms. Woodrick that her job ends in December--no, wait--well, if FacSen really wants to spend the money this way, then ok--Ms. Woodrick can keep her job. Never mind the shock of being told that your job ends in a few months, the terrible worry of beginning to search for a new job, the strain of wondering where your house and car payments will come from. Never mind the person in the job, the hard-working professional whose performance was never questioned and who was never consulted about the major structural changes planned for an area of operation that only she knew thoroughly. I imagine that no one has thought it worthwhile to apologize to Ms. Woodrick for the disrespectful way she was treated or for the mental and emotional strain it put her under, not to mention the perpetual insecurity of working for a boss who's willing to treat you in this way.
I have been told from someone who knows and who I know well that when the deans were "fired" two years ago, no one in the administration ever told them "thanks" for their years of service. So folks like Carl Martray and Jane Boudreaux that were and still are first rate (really world class) never received any acknowledgement of their contributions to the university. Even if they all were slobs, it seems a word of thanks would have been in order.

Thanked? At the breakfast meeting at which the Deans were fired, Shelby essentially read them the same statement that he later read to everyone else. Lisa Mader stood by making markings on it, presumably to give him advice on how better to read it for the masses. He then left the room and left the provost to pick up the pieces and answer the Dean's questions.
Face, it. The Thames administration is full of people who do not care about human beings. they do not care about anything but their own pathetic egos.

I am NOT recommending this, but Shelby is lucky that someone hasn't gone "postal" on him. Others have done it other places with far less cause.

And didn't he have a meeting with "community leaders" the day before (or earlier that same day??) to tell them about the reorganization even BEFORE the deans themselves?
There is a special level of Dante's Inferno for SFT and Co.
