I made a point of attending the Faculty Senate meeting today when I heard Myron Henry was to receive an award and be recognized for his many contributions to the Senate on behalf of the faculty now that he is retiring. Myron was the right man at the right time during a dark period of great challenges. In the face of verbal abuse and email monitoring, Myron never flinched. He is a selfless man of integrity, strength, and courage. When I was called into the president's office for what looked to be the end of my professional career, Myron was at my side. I can't adequately express my admiration and gratitude for a man who did so much for all of us.

Enjoy your retirement, Myron. You have earned it many times over. You have fought the good fight.

As one who often had the opportunity (during my time on the PUC) to observe Myron Henry in the midst of struggle, I have found him to be the epitome of the gentleman scholar. Ever the voice of reason, even in the face of the massively unreasonable, he stood tall. I am grateful for his example.

I did not know of Myron's retirement until I read this board, but I certainly echo the many good wishes and fine sentiments expressed toward this extraordinary leader. Hats off, gentlemen, a true hero is passing.

Myron, enjoy your retirement. It is much earned. Thank you for all you have done for all of us who cared with you!

I keep trying to write a response to this ugly remark. It's so out of place on a "thanks and goodbye" thread -- someone can't stand not to throw a little stone. In any case, Anonymous, Myron has switched gears into retirement, so your "danger" has passed.

I can't help wondering what it would take for this poster to switch gears and stop throwing around garbage anonymously. Then again, cheap shots are usually taken by cheap people in the cheap seats.

But for that nonsense about "dangerous," this has got to be the most complimentary of insults ever issued.  You've about perfectly described "tact," "diplomacy" or "discretion."  I suppose if one can be damned with faint praise, one might as well be complemented by such feeble criticism.
