USM gains dean, loses PR director

University of Southern Mississippi has two new academic leaders and one less staff director.

Denise von Herrman is the new dean of arts and letters.

The new director of the school of music is Michael A. Miles, chair of the department of fine arts at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He replaces Charles Elliott, who is retiring.
