Does anyone know if Shelby is throwing a end-of-semester Christmas party, or reception, or tea for faculty members, either at his manse, or on campus? Just wondering since I haven't heard of anyone receiving an invitation. It seems that given his critical need for faculty support during the SACS crisis he'd be trying to curry favor with the great unwashed.
Heard the CISE faculty had a lovely faculty "holiday" party at the President's house last Friday night. I suppose all chairs had their faculty parties at the President's home too? I didn't get to serve at this one.

Funny you should that. At the end of this week's called meeting of Faculty Senate, one senator in jest asked if his name was still on the roster. The reason he gave was he didn’t receive his invitation to the Christmas Party that SFT gives at his home for the Faculty Senate. Of course, no one received such an invitation this year. Even last year, before the Glamser/Stringer commotion, the party at SFT’s house was rather stiff. It was hard for all to be comfortable with the stresses developing.
Unlike previous years, there has been no Christmas joy in Mudville this year - no cards in the campus mail, no receptions, no nothing. Its a sad, sad place ...........

I guess Shelboo's social secretary simply forgot to mail the invitations. He's probably wondering why no one showed up for the festivities.
When I was being interviewed at USM many years ago I was driven by the president's house. During that visit I was told that Aubrey Lucas told the faculty that the house was theirs also. Now that was a nice thing for him to say. Maybe the president's house actually does belong to the faculty, at least in spirit if not in title. If that is true, we shouldn't need an invitation. Just drop on by. It would be nice for each of us to have our own key to the place.

The secretary who made this error has been fired. I refuse to tolererate this kind of incompetence during my administration. I will get a new secretary who will give a day's work for a day's pay.

So it was an incompetent secretary who made this error, not Tim Hudson?
I have ordered the immediate hiring of a Special Assistant for Christmas Socials (SACS) in order to make sure that USM (University of Shelby in Mississippi) will be in full compliance with all holiday traditions. I believe the special outlay for this new SACS staff member ($500,0000) will be well worth the investment, if only because it will pump another half mil into the local economy.
By the way, I have to admit that when I first saw the title of this thread I was worried that it might deal with further false and malicious charges relating to my personal life.
