well--you may not respect my opinion but respect SACS. they essentially said the fleming administration didn't do certain things it should. when the future of USM is in jeopardy, i'll take SACS opinion. didn't do what needed to be done.

I thought it was Fleming who appointed Myron Henry as provost. Didn't he bring in Carl Martray as a dean? Those two names alone serve to make my point, but there were others. All now either gone of displaced. But this is not worth discussing on on this board. There are more important fish to fry.
yes, fleming appointed henry and martray (sp?) so what! henry was dumped as provost. martray left. SACS was still unimpressed. what was henry doing while he was provost? what has he done to help this process since becoming a faculty member? he serves on SACS accreditation committees. i heard brad bond say he was going to bring him on in the assessment process. what happened? at least he could have suggested publically that things weren't going well. he's no dummy.

You would prefer the former VPAA in lieu of Henry? Martray went to a far better place. And he came from a far better place. USM has never been inclined to profit from the experience of experienced people who happen to have landed in Hattiesburg. But that was the past. It appears that our views on this are unreconcible. So let's get on with the business at hand: NO QUARTER.

I believe that Brad approached him and Myron indicated he would help but it went no further. I wouldn't blame Myron (and maybe not Brad on this.) Remember that Myron was already a lightning rod . . . I would almost best his "help" wasn't wanted. SCM -- this administation pretty much got rid of any administrator who could be associated with Fleming or Aubrey Lucas. It closed the IR office for Pete's sake. I know Myron well enough to know that he'd be the first to step forward if he thought his help was really wanted.
You'll pardon me -- I'm just a little bitter that the second set of words to come from the administration's pursed lips was an accusation that the FS refused to meet with Exline before Chrsitmas and used that false accusation to once again slam both FS and (by implication) and a sizable portion of the faculty. Had you been at the Senate meeting you'd have heard many expressions of support to get the job done. MOst of the senators are already on the committees which are going to be heavily involved so the idea that FS isn't engaged is ridiculous. If the administration wants to get the job done it shouldn't rub salt in some old wounds.
I'm sure if you ask Myron what he was doing while provost he'd tell you -- short of making his old boss who fired him seem bad. He's honorable that way -- its a characteristic noticbly absent in our public life.
