College Board member Scott Ross of West Point said the news has not reached the point where Thames' job is on the line.

"I'm not interested in calling for his resignation. It is grossly premature — the sky has not fallen here,'' he said. "Accreditation of USM isn't in danger at all. I am confident he (Thames) will do what he has to do to get it fixed.''

Amazing.  Just simply fecking amazing.

The sky may not have fallen West Point,  but here in the Hub City the sky has crashed about 75 feet Northwest of the duck pond and about 150 feet due South of the Dome.

"Alumni criticism" of Fleming led to his demise? It's a sad day for any university when their governing board pays more attention to alumni than to faculty in academic matters. Could these alumni been more focused on athletics than academics? Shame.

We tried to tell everyone last spring, didn't we? 


The most entertaining part of this, if you can find anything to laugh about in the current crisis, will be watching how the IHL board responds...watching how they divide on this issue.


Who'll be in our corner?  Who'll be in Shelby's?  I bet that the divide will be the same as it was last spring, which will show that Shelby's allies will stick with him no matter what, even if the end result is the dismantling of USM.
