If true, Pood's actions are an assault on the basic premise of shared governance. The CoAL chairs, if so informed, should have risen up in protest. If they didn't or if they don't, they have sold their souls and no longer can clain that they represent faculty. If they or any did, they are to be commended. If a college curriculum committee is so dissolved, then Academic and Graduate Councils should refuse to consider any proposals coming from that college.
Word just in: following the college faculty's "No" vote on the proposed by-laws, Elliot Pood has, apparently, dissolved the CoAL College Advisory Council, citing that the existence of such a council is underwritten solely by the College By-Laws. Hence, no by-laws, no college council. Has anybody else heard this?
I lack confidence in this guy enough to believe it's true. Did I begin to lack confidence in him when he accidentally "fired" Noel Polk? Or was it before that, when he manifestly refused to advocate justice for Frank and Gary, earlier this year? Or was it before that, when "Permission to Advertise" forms began to routinely disappear into some decanal black hole? Or was it when he threatened to roll the English Department into Foreign languages if the former didn't put forward just the right candidate for chair? Or was it when he authorized Ken Malone to interrogate Dr. Stephenson's students during class time, without her invitation, and then to publically hassle and yell at her? Or was it after that, when he lied to anyone who would listen about how interviews with "all thirty of Dr. Stevenson's students" have corroborated that she did whatever it was Dean Pood said she did and then we found out that not only are there less than half that many students in the class in question, but also that not one of them remembered being interviewed by the Dean or one of his minions? When did it begin to seem that this guy was either rotten to the gunwales or a few bananas short of a full load?
Gee, I can't decide. Does anyone else lack confidence in Elliot Pood? Am I getting all this right?
I had thought the Poodaramus might have a learning curve and eventually turn out to be an OK dean, though never a real good one. But he has the same flat-line learning curve as the rest of the upper Administration and can only dictate through the lense of his own very narrow field of reference. He is increasingly becoming an ASS.

Has anyone confirmed this report yet? Insurgent x reported what seems to be a rumor and asked for confirmation, but I haven't seen any and everyone seems to assume it is true.
That wafer thin mint is the climax of the "Mr. Creosote" sketch from The Meaning of Life, in't?
Also, apparently Mr. Creosote, er. . . I mean, Elliot Pood, announced the dissolution of the CoAL Council at the college chairs' meeting. My department chair sent out word via e-mail earlier today.

Can a member of the Council with first hand experience establish the facts for us?

I thought that by saying 100% correct that was confirmation enough, but here goes again: yes it is true, Pood dissolved the college council after the COAL faculty voted down the new college by-laws that provided for less faculty input than some other colleges on campus.
