I just voted for president. I thought the USM Bond issue was supposed to be up for vote today and had expected to vote for yea/nea when I voted for president. What happened? Where did I go wrong?

Because the Bond Issue is a city topic, the general election is handled by the county. And you guys call me uneducated.

Remember my mentors were in the CBA or CBED as it is now. And many of them share views very simular to mine. But, unlike many clones that are turned out by American Universities, I can and do think for myself.

I am not a clone of the professors who lectured me. I do not simply regergitate the retoric that was espoused from the podium, I look at a situation, how it affects me and those I care about then make a decision based belief and fact, rather than emotion.

Not I. I'd be more inclined to call you fresh, young,  and at times impetuous.  I don't offer that as a pejorative characterization by any means, for we were all there once upon a time. Speaking only for myself,  I enjoy reading your occasionally contrarian views.  Keep it up.

I'd rather be uneducated about a bond issue that is happening in a state far away from my own, rather than just plain ignorant.

Seeker, perhaps therein lies the problem. Looking at a situation only in terms of how it affects you and those you care about could be viewed as rather self-serving. Reading some of your previous postings led me to suspect that might be your perspective. We call that "voting your pocketbook." Perhaps you might consider looking at a situation in terms of how it affects the university and the community.

Seeker, I am not trying to insult you; I hope you can understand I am trying to help you. Do you know how to use cut and paste? Do you have a spell checker? I think if you wrote your messages in something like Microsoft Word, ran a spell checker, and then cut and pasted them into the body of your posts, your arguments would be a little more credible. Of course, most of the posters here will still find something to make fun of you for because you are clearly in the minority.


Nevertheless, all 3 of your misspelled words showed in my spell checker.

Altoid, back to your question. Did you not get a postcard in the past week or so telling you where to vote on the bond issue? I know that if you vote on 41st Ave for the Presidential election, then you vote at Wesley Manor on the bond. I think the precincts are also in the paper. Hope this helps.

BTW, I live right in the center of Hattiesburg and I have voted in the same place for 8 years. It is crazy that I am having to try to find where to vote for this bond issue at the last minute. It is near impossible to get anyone on the phone now to try to find out where I have to go. If I vote in Pinecrest precinct, where do you think I should be going to vote instead for this bond issue?


I am not saying I have no fault in this, but organizers/supporters of this bond issue should have publicized that voters would not be able to vote for everything in the same precinct, especially when I live in Hattiesburg.

Two voting locations. No wonder there is such a shortage of precinct workers.
