Is L. Mader on vacation? Between his comments here and the wonderful "plight" comment elsewhere, it looks as if SFT is writing his own stuff this week. Lawks, isn't command of the language sort of a minimum requirement for a wurl' class prez??

Ms. Mader has been pre-empted as presidential mouthpiece by Dr. Goebbels' new speechifyin' software. I think Shelby's recent missteps are likely attributable to program idiosyncrasies stemming from Dr. G's lack of familiarity with bubba-speak.

We got too many bond threads; I don't know where to post this tidbit.
Not only is there conflict between the locals and the state group, the son of the head of the state group is a pitcher at USM:

The HA should change its name to Sports Illustrated.

Well, at least the Lamar County bond issue. I would hardly expect the Hattiesburg paper to take a strong stand on a Laurel political issue.
I am dismayed at the fact that the HA has apparently sold its soul over the USM bond issue. There is no pretense of any objectivity. Every day there are huge feature articles disguised as "news" telling us how great the bond will be for Hattiesburg. Maybe it will be, but the newspaper's job is not to be a propaganda sheet for any one cause, no matter how worthwhile.
My guess would be that is "stock" art, not real local people. In any case, this flyer is silly and the arguments ("forced to pay more to feed their children" -- forced to buy Happy Meals??) are not well-supported. I'm not terribly gung-ho about the bond issue, but this thing is a huge waste of somebody's money.
