The administration of this board has been as vigilant as possible in identifying and removing questionable material, though our focus has been towards libelous material, and in one instance, removing some information about faculty members' children. We would have notified University authorities had there been cause for alarm.
This is a tough situation. In my mind, there can be no question but that the Virginia Tech situation has caused heightened sensitivity even way down here in Hattiesburg.

Since I just drove it two weeks ago, I do think Blacksburg is a pretty good ways away. On the other hand, I talked with a friend in Christiansburg this morning, so in that sense, we are close.
There are different kinds of distance, aren't there? Some folks say you go a long way from Canebrake to Purvis, although you never leave Lamar County.
But you are right: the ways in which we are close to those at Virginia Tech should be more important than the ways in which we might be distant.
