Is today really the day?

We've been burned so many times in the past four years (can y'all believe that it's been FOUR YEARS), that I think I'll remain skeptical until the announcement is made.

I hope some ol' timers will visit the board today.  I would love to hear what some of them have to say.

Fingers crossed.

I'm betting that someone will post it as soon as it's announced. I don't have WDAM, and am watching the HA website, hitting refresh, refresh, refresh.

Dear Fire Shelby:

Thank you for starting the original board.  It is fitting to hear from you today.

I wish you the best in life, especially this afternoon.

I too have been waiting with baited breath. I do think its encouraging that the scuttlebutt is that the new person does not have ties to USM. A fresh face, fresh ideas and hopefully a good understanding of what a university is there for.

I have my fingers and toes crossed for all of you, may today be a new beginning for USM.

The spirits here at USM are quite high. The USM community has good reason for hope. Our Search Advisory Committee has been highly engaged in the search process and we have been repeatedly told that the candidate pool was excellent.

I'm somewhat amazed at the reaction here in Hattiesburg. While USM has been burned in the last "search" all hold out hope that we will be on a new path.

Anticipating Good News!
Carl

Hello FireShelby!! Long time no see! Glad to have you help us wait! I just rushed home from some appointments, cannot believe there's no announcement yet (2:45 pm). Sigh.

This is one old timer that is very pleased with how the process worked out. I'm very optimistic about the future.

I look forward to meeting you someday at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of Glamser-Stringer Hall! biggrin

(It will be located, by the way, on the opposite side of the campus from the Shelby Thames Memorial Waste Treatment Plant.)

I agree with Frank:a Professor of Communications, with a Bachelors from USM and experience rising to full Professor at U. of West Florida, and experience in the UWF Honors College. Sounds like some cause for hope in Hattiesburg.
