Qualifications key in selecting USM president

"It is not so much out of a lack of respect for the outgoing president. Quite the opposite. Many see him as a brilliant scientist who has done great things for Southern Miss in polymer research. But a number of campus constituencies have been open in their criticism of Thames, and their dissatisfaction with the way things have happened throughout his tenure.

No group has been as vocal as the Faculty Senate."

...

We're looking forward to the next few months," said Myron Henry, president of the senate. "We think there's been considerable challenges the last five years."

Added Amy Young, an archeologist and anthropologist at USM and a member of the faculty team. "I share the opinion that faculty and staff are looking forward to new leadership."

Henry, who is on the university's search committee that has interviewed prospective candidates, calls the pool of applicants "a very good one." He also labeled the process "much more open than what one may realize."

"Brilliant Scientist"

Obviously delusional information still believed by all. The man has no scientific recognition beyond what he has spun for himself on this campus. Talk to those who work in his temple, and you don't hear good thinks about Gnome Science.

Amen!  I work with "world-renowned" polymer scientists, and Shelby is no competition for Akron, U Mass, or any truly renowned polymer departments.
