It was just a brief note last week from the state College Board that informed Mississippi taxpayers that the final interviews were being conducted to determine who would be the new president of the University of Southern Mississippi.

Now, wasn't it nice of them to let us know?...

As in the past, the general public is more informed that those of us on campus.  It is embarrassing when a family members calls and said did you know ...... at Southern Miss?  And your response is what?

It would be nice if the faculty, staff, and students were informed before the media.  That will never happen.

I guess we will find out who our next president is two or three days after they are named....

I believe the above mentioned information has been public for sometime now.  We were informed not long ago that the search pool had been reduced to a few candidates and that the search committe met last week with finalists.  Additionally, we have known for some time now that the preferred candidate from the last round of interviews would be in for a campus visit during the first week of April.
