What may happen to those posters is that they are going to get ripped to shreds and possibly hurt someone when they come flying off the buildings.

Shelby has done many more harmful things to Southern Miss, the faculty, the staff and the students through his actions than those "helped" via MIDAS, MURA and INCENCE. In addition, many of his actions have benefited his "friends" and close associates. Cash registers ringing do not signal financial growth nor income to the university. The cash registers also rings when cash is taken from the drawer.

My posting was just a misguided attempt at humor, Green Hornet. I had hoped that my use of the pseudonmy straight man would have made that clear. I'm with you on this point.

Forgive me for flying off the handle (hornets do that in a storm), I just finished up cleaning up the yard and removing all objects that could become projectiles (60+ MPH Winds will do that) and I guess I'm just tired.

Speaking of Shelboo and his relation to the Lord, I was just on the phone with a friend of mine in New Orleans who speculated that Ivan, heading toward Gulf Park, is Divine Retribution for all of Shelboo's depredations, but to the Gulf Coast campus in particular.
Hard to disagree with.

Hmm, apparently not. In any case, too many innocent would have suffered. I'm not big on the theory of Divine Retribution. I've seen too many circumstances where the Divine seems to step back and allow people to do their thing and then reap as they have sown. As if He says "Well, all right. If you want to do this YOUR way, go ahead. When you're through screwing it up, you know where to find Me." At any rate, that's happened to me more than once.

Dear OPTIONAL, my post had several points.

(1) To remind readers about comments SFT made to the media about his conversations with the LORD.

(2) To illustrate that SFT's ego is larger than life (BTW, there's a similar poster/billboard with SFT's mug on it.

(3) To alert readers of the proposed danger the winds could possibly cause if the posters came loose from their supports.

(4) Getting back to SFT's ego, "a wise man is humble to the LORD". I don't believe SFT is neither wise nor humble and should do a better job leading this university and should not say the LORD is telling him he's doing the right thing when you review all the problems we've had since he took over the office of president.

I am pleased that the posters stayed up, but your understanding of physics may be confused. Depends on whether the air moved across or against the posters. Air moving across a surface lowers pressure. That is why wings lift airplanes. Hold a strip of paper under your mouth and blow. It will rise, not be pushed away.

About a week ago. Still looks like a campus to me. So what? Think they need some posters? Iknow where they could get some.

Foot Soldier, I believe someone mentioned on another thread that it's (his mug) on a billboard somewhere between Hattiesburg and Jackson. I'm not sure, but I also recall someone saying there is another billboard in Petal (on Hwy 42, by the high school?????, anyone else see it??????)

Optional - if you think the Carey campus doesn't look like a campus, I'd say that you probably haven't seen very many college campuses. Take a look at Millsaps, Belhaven, Mississippi College, or virtually any of the smaller liberal arts colleges in other states - 24/7. They take pride their respective campuses and keep them presentable, as does Carey.

LSM and LSM-again are correct. Rumor has it that just before Ivan shifted east, SFT and GL boarded a state-owned aircraft and flew directly into the eye of the storm. Only then did it shift towards Gulf Shores and away from all USM "operations" on the Gulf Coast of MS. I'm no expert in the "divine wind," but something happened when Thames and Lassen entered the eye of Ivan and spoke to him. You guys should hang on to your president.

Yes, Jim, they are calling this last-minute eastern slant by Ivan a minor miracle for Mississippi. In fact, meterologists as of today are calling this the "Shelby Effect" when a horrible storm veers course in order to wreak havoc just across another state line. The Shelby Effect has placed some sort of magic protection across Mississippi. In fact, people are so confident in its power that hurricane insurance will no longer be required on the coast. That is one powerful dude. That's all from Gulf Shores, back to the studio with Bob Stokes and Kelly Cass.

I think y'all have it all wrong. I figure it's one of two things:

(1) Hurricanes are attracted to Tier 3 & higher institutions, but are repelled by Tier 4; or...

(2) Ivan figured that if he tangled with SFT, he'd be stuck in South Mississippi for years waiting for a court date.
