Former Army general leads USM campaign
Blount spearheading effort to raise $5.5 million to create endowned chair

Buford "Buff'' Blount, who led the Army's Third Infantry Division during the early days of the war in Iraq, is leading a $5.5 million fundraising campaign at the University of Southern Mississippi, his alma mater.

Blount, 59, a retired major general, is raising money to create the Blount endowed chair of International Security and Global Policy on the Hattiesburg campus. About $1 million has been raised....
