A question about USM's enrollment
Permalink Closed

Could someone help me verify a fact. In a discussion today, a colleague made the point that USM enrolls more  African-American and Indian (Choctaw) students than any institution in the state, including Jackson State. Is this true?

from the IHL's fall 2006 factbook--we have 3939 black students enrolled.  JSU has 7717, Alcorn has 3240, the Valley has 2992, MSU has 2979, UM has 1829, DSU has 1714, and MUW has 772.  the data are not broken out specifically enough to answer the question about Choctaw indians.

SCM: Thank you for that info. I didn't think the claim was quite right, although it is interesting that our Af-Am enrollment is larger than either Valley or Alcorn.
