Tom does have a track record in getting people into presidential positions. I am not sure if anyone has looked at the persons that were selected in Georgia when he was their commish. But, remember, Ms is different. Or do Georgia good ole boys operate differently than Mississippi good ole boys?

Ms. or Mr. Lily
FUD, also has been known as, Facts, Unctuous, and Deliberate.
We do not need a competitors product. We need our own....selected in the sunshine.
Lily gal or Lily guy...have you checked the track record?
Ole Alias will not have to live with the results of this search, many others will.
- can you point us to a source to "check out Tom's track record"?
- at this point in the search process, what would be our options if we check out Tom's record and don't like what we see? Another couple of years of the present administration while the seach process is refined?
You say you don't have to live with the result, and neither do I. I'm just curious about what you think the options are at this stage of the game.

Source....check out the Georgia higher education system. With the number of institutions in the Georgia system I am sure that Tom made a mark with the appointments of presidents during his tenure. The higher ed writers for the Atlanta Constitution have a wealth of info and opinions.
Options....be proactive and seek more openness in the remaining part of the process.

Alias, I seem to remember thanking your earlier for being so clear and precise with your "suggestions". But for the dumb ones like myself, could you explain more fully what I or the Faculty Senate (FS) could do (that is not presently being done) to be "proactive" and "seek more openness"?
IIRC, actions were taken by FS that resulted in the Commissioner changing the search procedure from the one used by Miss. State.
I believe there are about eleven faculty members on the search committee. It will be hard to hide anything from that many people. Openness is not a problem at this point. Everyone involved wants a successful search, especially Meredith.

I respect that all of those persons that have been designated to participate in the search process.
My only concern.....is that we will be lulled into accepting someone that is political or from the good ole boy system.
It appears that we will get what we deserve. We have followed TM and we will have to accept what the IHL delivers.
The eleven faculty members on the search committee are to be commrended for your service. . Do your job.

You have no idea what we will get. With all your "to the barricades" bravado can I assume you have been an outspoken member of AAUP and/or the faculty senate in recent years, or have you been hiding under your desk?
Ole Aliias says "calf rope". I give up on my ill conceived campaign to promote openness and more involvement in the presidential search.
I am not a faculty member so I have not been able to directly see what the FS and AAUP have done to influence openness in the process. It just appears to me it is a closed process. If I had been there as a faculty member I would not have been "under my desk."
Hope it works out for y'all. You will be better off no matter who is selected. You certainly deserve more than you have had since 2002.
