I was at a party tonight and this story was being discussed. Seems that last year a faculty member in music (with close ties to SFT and his town cronies) made known his/her intentions to retire and nothing was said about phased retirement. A search was held. The person was replaced. Now this person is back teaching in music again this year. This much is true. So, how is this person being paid?
One rumor is that he/she is actually working as a fund raiser for the Foundation and just teaching in music on the side. If that is true, was there a search for the foundation position? The other is that he/she is being paid by the President's office. If so, why is that happening when he/she was replaced and there is such a shortage of faculty lines in many departments?
The only two or three people in music who retired last year and were replaced could (to the best of my knowledge) not be described as Thames cronies. But I'm not in the loop over there. There are a couple Thames cronies in music (as well as plenty who are decidedly not).
Is this person who "retired" way too young to retire? There is one friend of Angie D. who would probably have the connections to pull such a move. But I can't comment unless you can reveal the name. (No pressure--just a statement of fact.)

Ah . . .now I recall who this is . . . principally walks the halls and is gone long before noon. But a Thames cronie? This is news. If the person is now "fundraising," it would be for the very first time ever, I think.
Remember, Inquiring minds, nothing under this administration should surprise you anymore.
