So, when your USM dna evidence gets introduced at trial, I'll be sure to remind the jury that (1) this is the same all-white guy place that took down Ms. McCarty's portrait from the dome(i.e., "no room for local black heroes in a redneck administration"), (2) this is the same place that lied about enrollment figures to look like the largest univ in the state, etc. ..etc....

No you won't. A judge won't let you impeach an expert witness with this line of questioning. Now if they run a sloppy lab with sloppy paperwork, that's another story. Even in the O.J. trial, the DNA evidence was impeached by revealing a sloppy chain of custody (How do you know, sir, that the blood you tested was not tainted....)
This came up once before, and I don't remember the answer. Where DID the portrait go? Is it not in the dorm named for her? That would seem appropriate, but if it's not there, where is it?
