"We didn't have as good a data system in place," state Superintendent of Education Hank Bounds Thursday.
Past rates put Mississippi's graduation rate at 85 percent. The graduation rate is now at 61 percent under the new system. The dropout percentage is 26.6 percent."
The stats cited on MPR this afternoon aren't as good as 1 in 4. Just under 1/3rd don't finish high school, even when GEDs & vocational (special ed) certificates are included with the "completers."
Not making light of this, but I wonder where the few students who are "early admissions" to universities are classified. They aren't h.s. graduates...
It is possible to earn a PhD without ever having graduated from h.s. or taken the GED exam. I know this as a stone fact.
