Sorry to have been gone for a while (been at the beach; brought back sunburn).  Well, we're back...


1. Word spreading fast now that the entire campus, all colleges, used Elliott Pood's merit raise system, not just the COAL.  Word coming out of CBED and CEP also matches the kind of results one would get using Pood's system (thanks for the P-system info, artsy).  What does this mean?  gorod writes (via e-mail) that ". . .we might look back at the end of next week and call this Elliott's first official 'act' as USM's Provost...."  Interesting stuff.  Thanks artsy, gorod, and grapevine.


2. ntsft reports that January mid-year raises are not out of the question, in fact they are "quite likely."  Word is that SFT & Co. held back some funds for a mid year.  ntsft also urges faculty in the various colleges to inquire about raises given to administrators in those colleges.  "They might be shocked," ntsft asserts.


3. compaq and envelope give the "heads up" that a legal team --- with staff, copiers, digital cameras, subpoenae all in tow --- will march into Joseph Greene Hall some time next week and take over the place.  It's going to be a spectacle "no one will want to miss..."  Thanks compaq and envelope.


4. Word from gorod that Janet has alot of the raise information.  Don't know if a story on it is in the offing yet.  Still investigating.


5. Tips continue to hill the mill daily to expect TH to "leave behind" an anonymous box of goodies.  When we last reported this, there was a misunderstanding that it would "be outed" quickly and clearly "linked to Tim."  What we're hearing contradicts this.  It will be outed "over several months, even years...." and that "none of it will link up with Tim, at least not clearly so ....."  This is good stuff, and the box will likely contain some interesting items.  The mill is still investigating these "tips" as they arrive.

Rumor killer. I can tell you for a fact this one is wrong, at least for COEP. Sorry.
