As has been posted, MS is a "right to work" state. Without a written contract, workers may be fired at will. Tenure may supercede "right to work", but that could take the court system years to sort out, leaving some faculty out in the cold and in financial ruin.
Where's the outrage?
Dome says: We're waiting on raise info. Faculty says: OK.
Raise info is released, but how much longer would it have taken to print out the contracts? A day? Maybe two?

I, too, have wondered "Where's the outrage?" Nobody responded to your post, Johnny Mack. I fail to understand why this matter has laid to rest for so long.

And here it is! ------------------------------- Merit Increase Implementation Plan
The Department of Human Resources takes this opportunity to share with you when merit pay increases and the additional across-the-board payment of $400 will be a part of your paycheck. First, the salary increase is retroactive for the first pay period of July 2004. For biweekly paid employees, the first pay period began July 3, 2004; for monthly paid employees, the pay period began July 1, 2004.
For all biweekly paid employees, the pay increase will be reflected in your September 10, 2004 paycheck. The September 10, 2004 paycheck will also include the retro pay, so the September paycheck will be for a larger amount than the September 24, 2004 paycheck and those to follow.
For all monthly paid employees, your September 30, 2004 paycheck will reflect an increased amount as it also will include the retro pay. Thus, it will be for a larger amount than the October 31, 2004 paycheck. The amount of the October 31, 2004 paycheck will remain constant until such time in the future that another raise is awarded.
I would also like to reiterate that employees hired after January 15, 2004, are not eligible for the merit increase or the additional $400. The across-the-board payment of $400 is not a one-time payment; instead, it will become a part of your regular salary. If you should have any questions, please feel free to call the Department of Human Resources at 266-4050. Congratulations and thank you for all of your hard work on behalf of The University of Southern Mississippi.
