Homecoming...

...Members of the Kappa Delta sorority, which nominated Holder for the Homecoming Queen title, were engaged in the laborious process of stuffing square pieces of colored tissue paper into the grid of their float, whose "Wizard of Oz" motif complements the float competition's overall theme of "All Roads Lead to Gold."

There's a Southern Miss twist to the four familiar sojourners on their way to Oz, said sorority member Beth Richardson.

"We have real pictures for the faces," Richardson, 21, said. "(Holder) is going to be Dorothy, (Student Government Association President) Gene Gouaux is the Tin Man, the lion is (Southern Miss President Shelby) Thames and (Head Football Coach Jeff) Bower is the scarecrow."...

Stephanie Bower is a member of Kappa Delta; I bet her dad was more than happy to be the Scarecrow. I doubt it was not lost on anyone in the absolutely fine KD float that Shelby, as the COWARDLY LION, was the perfect Typecase. If he only knew what "courage" meant.
