The humanist believes that people are inherently good and, with education, each has the power for obtaining a good life. The behaviorist thinks that an individual’s personality and character are the product of his or her total experience, which must include education. The pragmatist sees one’s education as a means of freedom from confusion and ignorance.
Which one are you? Which one would the 099-level student be?
O.P. could you clear up your questions for me? I don't think your statements are mutually exclusive and seem to be SUBJECTIVE BELIEFS or motivations rather that OBJECTIVE FACTS.
Why a 099 student should be associated with any of your statement is beyond me.
Please restated your ideas so I can understand what you are saying.
P.S. I don't mean to imply any fault on your part. I'm just a little dense.
On line Prof appears to want to pigeon hole people. On line Prof appears to believe that all people operate from the same level of motivation. If we had endless numbers of faculty - then 099 classes could accomodate all entering students. And all entering students would not have to worry about doing well in high school since they will be accepted into USM unconditionally for at least a year. And USM WILL become the largest university. Hip hip hooray. Swan Song is not opposed to 099 classes - as long as they are not thrown together, but rather are designed carefully and that REQUIRES faculty input since we are the ones who would be teaching them.
BTW: Members only AAUP website = Varsity Voice = PUC.

I'm a realist, I see someone needing an education.
