1. Board President names Board Search Committee (BSC) members and BSC chair. Commissioner selects search consultant (SC) with Board’s approval. 2. BSC, Commissioner, and SC meet with campus constituency groups to hear what they want in their next institutional executive officer (IEO). 3. SC drafts job description based on constituency feedback. 4. Commissioner receives recommendations from constituency groups regarding names for Search Advisory Committee (SAC). 5. Commissioner appoints SAC members and SAC chair. 6. SAC briefed by Commissioner and SC regarding search process; SAC members sign Associated Press-style code of ethics. 7. Advertisement placed and nominations and applications received. 8. SAC reviews and discusses all candidate résumés. 9. SAC recommends approximately 10+/- names, unranked, to SC for reference and background checks. 10. SC reviews completed background and reference checks with SAC. 11. SAC recommends finalists to Board for interviews. 12. BSC, in conjunction with Commissioner and SC, decides on candidates for interviews. BSC may add names of extraordinary candidates. 13. Preliminary interviews are held with Commissioner, BSC and SAC representatives. 14. BSC and Commissioner visit final candidates at their home campuses with SAC representative. 15. Board invites representatives of SAC to observe/participate in final interview process. 16. Board, SAC representatives and Commissioner interview candidates. 17. Board announces preferred candidate for full campus interviews. 18. Preferred candidate brought to campus and engages in open interviews with various campus constituency groups. 19. Board receives preferred candidate feedback from constituency groups and decides if preferred candidate should be named IEO. 20. Possible IEO announcement.
