I apologize to those of you tired of hearing the CBED mail server is down, but, like some other posts, you can simply skip it. Please remember that your college could be next.

The after hours telephone number given to us is not to a telephone carried by anyone who can do anything about a problem. It is routed to a student at a desk in a lab. That screams "world-class", doesn't it? What was reported to be a new server cannot last one weekend. Apparently too much work was getting done in the CBED, so that had to be curtailed.

This may be the wave of the future for USM. Surely another student could answer the phones for the campus police at night and on weekends. How much money would that save for administrator raises? Likewise the campus "post office", the Barnes & Noble t-shirt and blanket seller, and all on-campus food and beverage providers: we will not be open for your convenience, but call us so we can pretend to be aware of your needs.

I, for one, find it comforting that it's just not our college going through this. They'd like to divide the colleges and have us pounce on one another or simply be disinterested in any environment outside our immediate ones. Hey we're all becoming a tour de force that ain't gonna sing any songs just to make those in "power(????)" satisfied.

You should address concerns to Homer Coffman.  He's in charge of the cbed server I hear.  Anyway, good luck.  You aren't surprised to see that the server went down on its first weekend are you?


Go to the CBED webpage and find a link to the technician.  Oh, only Doty's resume is linked up there?  That's a shame.

Of course, you can save yourself the trouble of actually calling a technician & listening to excuses, by going straight to the BOFH Excuse Server. If the first excuse doesn't work for you, just reload the page to get another.

I don't know if this has anything to do with your email problems in the cbed or will even help with them, but based on paperwork I have either processed or seen your iTech rep is about to get a transfer and your Associate Dean is about to be replaced.

Wow!  A new Associate Dean and and New iTech  person?  It is hard to believe that someone is actually looking at performance and making a decision!

The   has pulled the  on the CBED  . The CBED is from using   . It does no good to  the iTech Help Desk. That's nothing , and the CBED is still , , , and . The CBED is ready to .

I'm afraid that you misunderstood the paperwork that you saw, if you truly saw it.  The i-tech transfer is routine.   The big news is NOT that the Associate Dean is being replaced but why he is being replaced. He is moving up to the Dean's slot.  Doty got canned late Friday afternoon.  It will be announced next week.  Wait and see, his office will be empty tomorrow.
