Mississippi higher education has been underfunded by state lawmakers, pushing tuition costs higher, so that the state now has a big fat "F" for affordability."



"Mississippi's universities flunked the test on affordability in a recent national tally, but that should come as no surprise.

The National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education (www.highereducation.org) gave Mississippi the "F" for failing to serve the public in college costs."
