A New Era
Permalink Closed

We are about to enter a new era. May 20, 2007 is not that far away.

We will have a new president. Afterwards, a new provost, a new Gulf Coast Assistant Provost, some new vice presidents, some new deans, and possibly some other new administrators.

So, what do we want it to look like. (Fill in the blanks) Be realistic, remember we are in Ms.

President_______________________________________________

Provost_________________________

Provost Assistant...Gulf Coast______________________________

New VP's___________________________

New dean of your College_______________________________

Recognizing that the new president should drive most of these decisions, what advice would you give him/her?

Let's be idealistic!

Fill posts with people who are not at USM and never been at USM. The only two exceptions are Don Cotton and Steve Doblin.

It's not often that I agree with Cossack, but you are correct in that we should clean house. However, there are other USM retreads who I wouldn't mind seeing back--Jim Hollingsworth, Andy G., M. Stringer, and others come to mind. BTW, Cossack, do you know that you "outed" yourself on your profile?

I would like to see a President at USM who has some concept of the larger world, who can appreciate faculty who are leaders in their disciplines, and who is strong enough to surround him or her self with smart, capable people.

We've said it before -- first class people hire first class people, second class people hire third class people.
