You said this on another thread and nobody picked up on it. Can you or anybody else tell us more?
"Over the summer he has canned some emeritus professors from ever being allowed to teach again - in one case it is pretty clear that it is revenge for that person speaking out in the past year."
Hi. Just saw your post. The emeritus professor who was canned is in Arts and Letters - really all I can say without drawing undue attention to the victim, though there weren't but so many emeritus professors in the whole college and this one wrote a letter to the HA in the last year or so. Another emeritus professor in the same college has been told he can continue to teach a course or two as he has been doing since he retired - at the adjunct rate! What is despicable about this scenario is the pettiness and vindictiveness of Thames and the denial of students learning from experienced quality teachers at USM. But we care about students here first, right? Right.

When SFT croaks, there are many descriptions of him that could be put on his tombstone. Petty and vindictive would have to be in the first line along with some words that begin with the letters "in" such as incompetent, insecure, insipid, incoherent and insane. But, they likely will not let faculty/staff write his epitaph. However, if they were to charge $$ per letter to write his epitaph to fund a SFT scholarship, faculty\staff would rank as the highest dollar set of donors for that year.
