1. Cryptic work creeping out now about the possible existence of a "good press fund" operated through private sources. Can't confirm anything of course. Keep working on it. Thanks ntsft.
2. As has been reported, enrollment looks to be problematic given recent Preview numbers. If enrollment drops in the fall, given all the other pending "issues" involving the scandals, next academic year could be more "dangerous" for faculty that the one just completed. Thanks gorod and grapevine.
3. Word has it that the library continues to lose resources --- people and financial support. They are stretched so thin there that almost every accred process from here on will suffer badly for it. Good luck USM. Thanks artsy.
4. We hope to have an operative at the Jeff Bower golf tournament. There will likely be some interesting goings on there.
5. More on the Pickering case. Look for some embarrassing revelations soon concerning Carl Nicholson's involvement. It also seems that Nicholson is at the center of the CBED controversy involving the faculty member who is seeking an evaluation appeal. Tales are that he facilitated a "hush-up" to an earlier appeal by the same person that alleged some serious cronyism (amounting to large sums of money) in a department in the ole CBA. Thanks compaq.

Playing golf doesn't help the "lazy professor" public perception, y'know?
Just kidding... just kidding...
I thought only coaches & administrators got to play golf on company time.
I saw a copy of the document, complete with a handwritten note that Carl had taken care of it. If any part of it is true, a lot of people should be really embarrassed. But knowing the people at CBED, they aren't. They are probably just mad that somebody complained.

The (at least 3) accounting people involved are too arrogant and self-centered to be embarrassed. Enron and WorldCom would be proud of them. Aren't there guidelines for C.P.A.s? Surely someone must care enough - at least about the students they stand in front of - to report such unethical (illegal?) acts to the proper authorities. This is only initally a Doty and Thames problem. It goes - or at least shuold go - far beyond them.
Obviously you know the people. I'm sure Doty's really proud of them for taking care of dissent.
