While sorting through old papers, we have come across three copies of a flyer which was apparently handed out during the sanitation workers' strike in Memphis in 1968. These are printed on 8 1/2" x 11" white paper. The heading says, "March for Justice and Jobs/ Called By/ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr./ and/ Community on the Move for Equality/ Memphis, Tennessee"
The text begins, "The Negro community of Memphis is marching today in the cause of equlity and justice." However, the flyer is not dated.
On the back are "March Instructions" and "What You Can Do"
I imagine my dad may have picked these up, as he worked in downtown Memphis at that time, and they just got stashed away. They are in very good condition. Are they of interest to anyone on the board? If so, you can post here or you could contact me via Dr. Amy Young or one of the other regular board posters.
