White supremacist fights Kennard ruling

"Longtime segregationist Richard Barrett filed court papers Tuesday in Hattiesburg to appeal Judge Bob Helfrich's decision that exonerated civil rights pioneer Clyde Kennard.

The white supremacist lawyer from Learned, Mississippi, says if Kennard's burglary conviction isn't reinstated, Mississippi's segregation icons will surely fall."

Link to superb USM PR article on the exoneration.

David Tisdale is to be commended for his article and the photos...this has been such a long time coming for Clyde Kennard. Kudos to the students who spearheaded this effort, too...makes me proud to be a Mississippian!
