The only mention I've seen about church in all of this was in a March 9 WDAM-TV statement attributed in their website to former district attorney Bud Holmes: "I was disturbed when I saw a grown man, a professor and different ones hollering and screaming while he was trying to address the crowd. If you did that in church, you'd be thrown out of the church."

To my knowlege, Shelby still attends First Baptist in Hattiesburg.
