1. Some rumblings coming out of two colleges --- COAL and COST --- that they are "gaining" the department of economic development. We'll soon see who wins (maybe CBED still). Thanks gorod.
2. Word is growing that the new private sector food service provider plans to examine the profitability of every service it offers, and eliminate any piece of the puzzle that does not generate money. Look for an "uneven" service from them. Thanks grapevine.
3. Looks like WCC is poised to move up a notch. More word coming from across town about how they view the USM debacle as "an opportunity." More announcements soon. Thanks crusader.
4. Word coming from CBED that some of the reaccreditation paperwork may unduly represent the scholarship/work of former faculty. Maybe more in the future. Thanks compaq.
5. Stories coming from several places that campus visits are still occurring --- even this late in the year --- to fill many vacant faculty lines. Seems most of the candidates can smell the stench in the air when they get to campus, and usually turn away.
