great article about SFT
Permalink Closed

If you haven't seen the article on SFT in the 6/10 issue of The Advertiser News (it was mentioned earlier on this board), you should --- it's a must read.

My favorite part:

Thames also seeks help from the spiritual world.  "I've been talking to my Lord and taking his advice," he said.  If I'm doing something that's not right, he needs to tell me.  So far he hasn't told me it isn't right."

Does all this mean that God told SFT to fire Glamser and Stringer?  If so, why didn't SFT bring this up in the testimony at his hearings?  Here's the problem.  Everytime the Lord tries to tell SFT he's doing wrong, SFT fires up a powerpoint presentation and TL can't get a word in (nor a seat on the PUC).

Oh crap!  This quote, if accurate - I haven't seen the paper, explains a lot.  Shelby thinks he can communicate with the Lord, and he's waiting for an answer?  We're in much more trouble than I ever thought.  Run away, run away . . . .

This reminds me of a joke about a man who was caught in a flood.  He began to pray for help.  A rowboat came by.  No, said the man, I'm waiting on God to rescue me.  The water kept rising, the man kept praying and climbing higher in his house. Another rowboat comes by.  No, he says again, I'm waiting on God to save me.  The water rises, and finally he's on his rooftop.  A helicopter comes and offers to lower a line.  He waves it off.  No, I'm waiting on God.  Finally he drowns.  When he gets to the Throne, he asks God, "Why didn't you save me?"  God replies, "Man, I sent you two rowboats and a helicopter!"

So, if answers have been sought, answers are being given.  You have to do more than ask, you have to LISTEN.

My father was a divinity school professor. Sometimes when we had his students over to dinner, my mother would encounter one that she thought wasn't suited for the ministry. She was convinced they had been the wrong place at the right time and "overhead somebody else's call."

Perhaps SFT, with his extensive e-mail monitoring, is monitoring messages from above intended for some other administrator. TL actually said, "Fire Klinger"--or perhaps TL said, "The president must go!" which Shelby interpreted as the president of the AAUP, not the president of USM.

Judging from the recent good news about Gary Stringer, Shelby's Lord must be a closet Aggies fan.

This is some heavy-duty theology, foot soldier.

I know, I'm starting to sound like the advice from "Mama" poster.

By the way Invictus, due to you, I have downloaded "Mississippi" by your patron saint, and it is a big hit at my house.

Wow!  I knew the controversy at USM was attracting some major-league outside attention, but, still, I am impressed that you, oh God, would take the time to post to this board.  If you don't mind, Sir, I'd like to ask two questions that have been weighing heavily on my mind:

(1) Were you taking a brief vacation when Shelby was created?  If not, there may be a slight problem in the Quality Control department.

(2) Whatever happened to Jimmy Hoffa?

Sorry about that. My back's been turned for most of the spring, trying to deal with Bush and Iraq, but he's hopeless. Now my full attention to Shelby. I hope he's really listening.

I think this resembles Inherit the Wind more and more all the time.
