Just Wondering

I take this opportunity to formally request the participants of this website extinguish the behavior by ignoring the postings of the individual who is posing as "Mike Mader."

I am almost certain I know the identity of this individual based on forensics of the writing style and organization of cognitive structures.

Responding, especially, defending oneself, serves to reinforce MM.

Distracting dialogue from the point and purpose empowers MM to continue and will serve to escalate interruptions of the flow and quality of information.

This board is very important and serves as the only format for posting information for those of us who are actively developing a matrix of horror at our university.

Consider the number of lives and careers that have been ruined by this administration. That single fact makes it inappropriate for an emotionally immature misfit to use the board as an instrument of amusement.

It is especially inappropriate for MM to attack AH.  AH, who is extremely knowledgable of the situation and has an excellent grasp on the big picture has made some of the most meaningful and important contributions to the dialogue.  It is disgusting to see childish evaluations of AH's work by someone who has not experienced the pain and misery that currently exists at USM.  AH, you have earned the respect of this board and please do not feel the need to defend any statement made by this person who enjoys kicking people when they are down.

MM, if you feel so strongly about attacking AH, I suggest you make an appointment and do so face to face.  I'll bet your hit and run tatics will not be so cute when you are held accountable for your antics.

AH, you have been more than patient with MM, however, any response you give is reinforcing the behavior.  Apparently, this child learned that in the absence of positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement is better than nothing.  Some children specialize in "pushing" buttons in order to validate their own existence.

Now, to the most important point.

The quality of information on this board is extremely accurate and valuable.  It is so accurate that the rumor postings should be reported as the USM News.

There are those of us who have pieces of the puzzle and the information shared has been instrumental in providing missing pieces.

If we are to maximize this lifeline, we should not judge the quality of information, because you would not believe the White Knights who need the postings to continue unraveling the threads to save our university.

Please do not feel like you are alone.  Please do not become hopeless.  Please continue to report anything that you can.  Please do research and talk to your friends who work at the university.  Information is power and the assimilation of information will bring forth change.

Thank you for gathering data and reporting data.

Additionally, we all need to use the board to vent our frustrations and to bring levity to the situation. It is a bit like group therapy which gives many of us a reason to hang on.

We bring joy and hope to each other with humor, however, MM uses passive aggressive behavior which results in hurtful humor, and that has no place on this board.

Thank you for your consideration of this request and thank you for the opportunity to vent as it has been an especially frustrating day listening to administrative brainwashing bs without screaming.

I feel better.

P. S.  How do we contact the rumor person with rumors?

Thanks very much for that. I apologize for feeding the troll. I will restrain myself.

I just thought he sounded lots like Roy Klumb!

Just Wondering, thanks for your eloquent defense.  I have no problem ignoring the offending troll...the only reason I responded to him was to try and verify his identity (I had a feeling it was the same troll from the FS board, but I wanted to give him the chance to prove me wrong).  Once it was apparent that he wasn't the real MM, I had no further reason to respond to him.

I agree with your strategy, and will try my best to refrain from engaging those who only want to sow the seeds of discord on this board.  This community is too important to let a few malcontents ruin it for the rest of us.

Just wondering,

Thanks for an extremely thoughtful and even poignant post.  The pain you are feeling comes through, and it makes an "outsider" like myself even more determined to stay involved.  It's sad to realize that so many good people have been hurt and continue to suffer.

Many people have lost careers, suffered emotionally and financially, and have had their worlds completely changed by the Shelby and Co. antics. This Board is a godsend. It makes us realize that we are not alone. Our beliefs are not "out there". I suffer personally from what has occured in the last 2 years, but I suffer more for a highly esteemed former colleague who has chosen to sue those offensive people. She went on Mississippi Unemployment after receiving nothing but "Exceeds Expectations" on ALL of her annual evaluations. No one gave her any warning that they were about to stick 3 knives in her back (the people in her dept. who voted against her) That would be Carolyn Reeves kazelskis, Mark Richmond and one other unnamed soul who followed the bidding of Dana Thames. As a single mother, her life was thrown into complete turmoil. How she has turned this all around is still beyond me. There is plenty of hurt on this board and a couple of ignorant trolls will not wreck the spirit of this Board. God bless Gene Saucier, btw.

This was a great post. Very moving.

I would like to add one other group to those that SFT has harmed -- alumni. Plenty of us walk into our offices every morning & look at our diplomas. How much less is a USM diploma worth in terms of national perception today than, say, two years ago? How many of us no longer feel "connected" with the university that meant so much to us for so long?

I feel no more "connection" to USM at the moment than I feel to a WalMart store.

I used to have a lot of pride in USM & could envision the future growth & positive development of the university. Now, I just see a shell that has been relegated to the dung hill of history by the governing board, which insists on keeping an incompetent & arrogant man in the president's office, a man who has no real vision of the university except that it exists to make a few people wealthy.

While in many ways you are right, we must remember that SFT and his minions are still NOT the University. I wish you had been here this spring, Invictus, to witness the incredible spirit of the faculty, unified. It's hard for us to maintain that level of energy, but the USM you remember is not gone yet!

I'm glad to hear that.

But remember that it's the president (operating through his propaganda minister, er, PR director) who is responsible, really, for keeping alumni "connected" to the University. With only a few exceptions, the professors who meant so much to me are retired, deceased, or have left USM for places where they are more appreciated.

That's why I have lost connection to the University.

The last communication I got from the Alumni Association was a pretty blatant attempt to make me feel guilty for letting the "current situation" stand in the way of my forking over money to USM.

Right now, I am a LOT more connected to Ole Miss, because I'm just starting to send tuition checks to Oxford.
