It was announced on Thursday at a CoST meeting that since CBED didn't want ED (because of the fear of losing accreditation), discussing are underway on moving ED to another college. CoAL asked for it to be located in Political Science. CoST then suggested it be move to that college. It should be another interesting month at USM.

Then the administration will tell some college to adopt the department. C'mon, Dr. Campbell, you've been around universities long enough to know that deadwood that is the brainchild of a high ranking admin is not going to be trimmed.

Invictus,

I know, but I couldn't resist asking the question...especially since none of the Colleges probably does want Economic Development at this point.

Looking at the "faculty" roster for Economic Development, I had trouble finding any real professors; they're nearly all administrators.  Who actually teaches those online courses?

Interestingly enough, I got the impression at the meeting where I heard this discussed that the deans of CoAL and CoST may be fighting to get ED, if it indeed leaves CBED. The chairs of CoST did not say much, but rather listened to what the dean had to say.

maybe they'll just put economic development back in the geography department, where it was originally.
