GOVERNOR BARBOUR, SENATOR COCHRAN TO ATTEND RALLY COMMEMORATING KATRINA STUDENT AID RELIEF
3/21/2006 (Jackson, Miss. ) -
In appreciation of the Mississippi Congressional Delegation’s diligent effort to secure $95 million in student financial aid for all of Mississippi’s higher education students affected by Hurricane Katrina, the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning and the University of Southern Mississippi are co-hosting a rally on Wednesday, March 22, at 4 p.m. in the Southern Miss Athletic Center—M Club. Guests of honor include Governor Barbour, Senator Cochran and other members of the Mississippi Congressional Delegation.
“We deeply appreciate the efforts of Governor Barbour, Senator Cochran and our congressional delegation who made it possible for Mississippi’s students to continue their education, no matter their personal circumstance, following Hurricane Katrina,” said Commissioner of Higher Education Dr. Thomas C. Meredith. “Our Board, Institutional Executive Officers and Student Body Presidents are looking forward to publicly thanking our Governor and Federal Delegation.”
The Student Body Presidents from Mississippi’s eight public universities will host a reception immediately following the rally in the Grand Hallway of the Southern Miss Athletic Center.
I posted on this already and my challenge still holds: how are we going to protest the Thames Administration to this august crowd? Isn't this an opportunity to good to pass up? See you on the streets at 4:00.
This event has been constructed for the media: invitation only and an indoor "rally" by the guests. I do hope Black Cat is there with a sign. Maybe the cameras will see him/her on the way back out to the parking lot.
