For whatever reason, Doty can't seem to stand being around students. Oh, and I'm told that the "extended period" in the other post above means "more than 2 weeks." What does that sound like?
The Doty story recounted earlier in the thread reminds one of several other instances in which the aforementioned person has volunteered inappropriate comments in a public forum. Ms. Manners might say, "if you cannot say something nice, then do not say anything at all," while others might say, "if you cannot open your mouth without violating the Hostile Workplace statutes, then you should probably not say anything, ever."
If you, "Amy," or "amy," are Amy Young please say so, otherwise you are Doty's minion using Amy Young for your own purposes. There is no spin to it. Several witnesses versus one toadie, who may try to spin now, 3 years later, but he can't. Too many heard with their own ears, and it was a sorry thing to witness.
Several business profs (about 6) were gathered in the ante room of an office suite having a conversation, some time around Oct of 2003, shortly after Doty arrived. ... stunned silence. At that point one of the faculty members asked the single father, "Did he just call your daughter a slut?"
If true, this says as much about the six faculty who said nothing as it did about he Dean. Are they spineless whimps or are you spinning the story?
"amy" turns into "a gentleman" right before everyone's eyes. How about this, I need to get my fundraiser out of town on business more so I can sleep with his wife --- the FR is doing something about this.

Combine the story above with and it's enough to send chills down my spine.

At the time, I think everyone was shocked that he would say something like this and think it was funny. As we grew to know him, we came to appreciate that any disagreement would be punished. Like you wait for Thames calendar to run out, we wait for Doty to inflict himself on another University or be returned to his first love.
I see that the webmaster or moderator took out the bogus "amy" and "Amy" posts. People can say what they want to, and use just about any "nom" but pretending to be a known faculty member is the pits. Dr. Young has enough to deal with without this.

You are exactly right. Keep in mind it was done by a Doty minion or toadie, too. That's what they're all about. They will do anything to make their PERS calculations work out.

Amy Young uses the nom Amy Young. The use of Amy in the post was short for Amy Vanderbilt, who you are obviously not acquanted.
I am acquainted with Amy Vanderbilt. She lived right up the road from Rufus Conkle where I grew up. However, I do not think she is posting on this Board.

Ms. Manners thinks that this is explanation is rather thin.
