Southern Miss Honors College, Office of Scholarships to Host Information Forums March 6 and 8

Hattiesburg – The University of Southern Mississippi’s newly created Office of Scholarships and the Southern Miss Honors College invite all students at the university interested in learning more about the application process for such prestigious scholarships as the Rhodes, Truman, Goldwater and Fulbright to attend an information forum Monday, March 6 at 5:30 p.m. in the university’s International Center Auditorium.
The Office of Scholarships, located in Room 305 of the International Center, is open daily and has scholarship literature available. Southern Miss Scholarship Officer Peggy Varnado is available on Mondays in the office to consult with students interested in applying for these scholarships to help in planning their academic programs and summer activities.
On Wednesday, March 8 at 3:30 p.m., the Honors College and the Office of Scholarships will present Brad Tuggle, a former Rhodes Scholar at the University of Alabama, who will present “Strategies for Making Yourself a Viable Candidate for Competitive Scholarships and How It Benefits You.” Tuggle’s presentation will be held at the Walker Science Building’s Reuben Hall, Room 120. All Southern Miss students, and faculty at the university who are interested in serving as mentors for candidates for competitive scholarships, are invited to attend.
