Just want to say that everything I post on here is not meant to be taken personal, but meant to get you fired up.
While we all thankfully disagree on our respective ideas of what USM should be (which is entirely different than what we "could" be given the lack of an independent governing board by the state); I have no doubt that we all wish USM to be a better place under the circumstances. As an alumnus and philanthropic investor I thank you for your hard work and caring, and ask tolerance for my many smart-alec remarks on this board.
With that said, you can all kiss my butt if you don't like my opinions
No harm, no foul. Just a point of clarification on other ends as well: don't assume people are USM sports fans. Being a sports fan is about going home happy more times than not. With that said, one has more happy times pulling against the Eagles than against their opponents.
Actually, being a sports fan is about good sportsmanship vs. W-L. If you root against my Eagles & are truly a "part of the family" though, that's just mean man!***

Since Thames took over, that family looks increasingly like the Corleones. No thanks man.
I'm no Thames fan as Pres, let that be known out front. If that is your only inspiration to not be a USM Athletics supporter, then I say go far away, young man. One person, president, admin, faculty, does not a university make...and as I said before, I think we would all be happier if we were run by an independent governing agency. You and I are, contrary to your belief, probably on more the same wavelength than you think. I believe in the spirit and character of students involved in extracurricular activities. I've also seen the fruits of our labor in those areas pay off in the broader world.
gator--to second your point. i've taught several students who were and are varsity athletes. i've also taught those in other extracurricular activities. good future.
