With more top people leaving USM, is this good or bad?  Does it mean that SFT has lost his inner support or does it mean that he will be able to put cronies in their place before his departure?

Perhaps a more precise phrasing of the question (given the paucity of evidence that anyone but Lassen is leaving) would be: If Shelby Thames replaces Gregg Lassen with Ken Malone as the new CFO, would that be good or bad for the university?

In my opinion, Ken Malone would be a bad replacement for Gregg Lassen. Look what he did to Continuing Education? I have heard that he has made the comment that he is a "hatchet man."
