STARKVILLE - The Mississippi State University Faculty Senate got a boost from its Hattiesburg counterpart in its push for an open search to replace MSU President Charles Lee.

The University of Southern Mississippi Faculty Senate voted unanimously Friday to draft a letter supporting an open presidential search that involves faculty input.

"We think those who will be led by a new president should have a pretty significant involvement in the search process," said Myron Henry, a USM faculty senator.

The USM group took action after hearing a presentation from Mark Goodman, MSU Faculty Senate president. Goodman opposes the closed search and has invited potential MSU presidential candidates to the Starkville campus to visit with faculty.

Great stance, USM.  I'm so proud that I used to work with all of you.

Wonder what MSU is planning to pay it's new prez.  According to today's HA (page 2C), MSU College of Business and Industry Dean, Sara Freedman, is moving to Oklahoma State in Stillwater as Dean of the Spears School of Business for a salary of $300,000.

That's because the HA editorial staff was too busy trying to decide where Terry Grant should go to college.
