Enrollment down 25% at the coast campus? Or Enrollment down 25% for the entire university? I find the latter quite difficult to believe: that would be a drop of about 3750 students. This sounds quite fishy to me.

my chair told me that it was announced yesterday--down 25% or about 3800 students; approximately 1000 on the coast campus and 2800 on the hattiesburg campus. tough to figure whether they were full time or part time, but could be a tuition loss of upwards of 7.5 million.

brief addition--this is comparing spring 05 to spring 06, although it is comparing spring 06 a week earlier than spring 05, i assume because we're starting a week later.

the tuition estimates are mine, but my chair heard the figures at a chairs meeting. another person i know heard the number from Bill Powell. another person i know heard them as well.

i suspect one reason is that the figures aren't final--there is a preview session friday, and then there's late registration. won't offset the decline, i suspect.

Is the 3000 USM wide (main and coast) or is this H'burg only? Given the penchant for misinformation, it may be even more than that?
