My question is, why? This wall will do nothing to stop j-walking (since there will be openings in it at all the points where people j-walk), and will only serve to wall-off the campus from the community, ruining the open view of USM that everyone has enjoyed for 100 years.
What bothers me most is the totaly lack of transparency or community input on this decision. Why weren't any students, faculty, or community members consulted on this decision? Who's decision was it to put a wall here? It's all a mystery.
Now, thanks to this flawed decision-making, USM students, faculty, and staff will have to spend their time in a campus that looks like a gulag.
