During the time this message board has been in existance I have seen posters from all but one college write under their real name. I have seen COBers post only under an assumed name. Their concerns appear to be directed exclusively to their own problems within COB. Where were they when we needed them the most? How many wrote letters to the newspapers? How many spoke up in faculty senate meetings? How many contributed to the legal defense fund? How many are members of AARP? These are only five of some questions that occurred to me but they're good ones for starters. I'm sure there are some academically savy faculty in COB but I've seen no evidence of that on this message board or in the newspapers.

All of this chat about COB's internal affairs is interesting, but I'd like to see somebody answer Big Void's questions.

If you go back and look at this board and the old one, you will see CoBers who posted under their real names. I would list some here, but don't have their permission to do so.
Also, many of you may recall a letter sent to the HA condemning Thames that was signed by a number of USM faculty. There was CoB representation there as well.
Do a little research before you start a flame war.
Isn't Mark Klinedinst an AAUP officer? If not now, before maybe? He has been quoted in the HA numerous times. Also, didn't the CoB Senators vote "No Confidence" every time? I know Duhon, Gunther, Green, Crockett have all spoken out at faculty senate meetings. Bill Gunther wrote a piece for the paper. Harold Doty got in a huge public war with Thames and Grimes. There is an accounting faculty member that just deposed Thames over the secrecy at The Foundation, and he has filed innumerable FOIA requests, causing SFT lots of headaches. The former fundraiser for the college is suing USM and will reveal loads of bad info on SFT.
The COB faculty do like to whine as to how beat up they are. While acknnowledging their good involvement already noted on this thread, the fact remains that they rarely stand up for themselves in a public way, and they have little involvement in the defense of other parts of the university. If they feel so put upon, perhaps someone should speak up. They might even consider membership in the USM AAUP chapter. It's easy to identify faculty who have been critical of the administration in the arts, liberal arts, health, education and science. How many can you name in business?
