I have seen mention on this board of removing Doty via a no confidence vote.
I believe that the DMBA vote this Friday, if constructed as everyone believes now, will be tantamount to a 'no confidence' vote on Doty's leadership. I also think he will get a marginal victory on Friday. But, what can he take from a 52-48 win? Not much. Certainly not a job at either USF or FAU. Nearly 1/2 of the CoB has no confidence in him.
I also find it interesting that he had Econ Develop expelled from the CBED b/c of the lack of quality in all of its online offerings. He said the mere presence of ED and its programs would jeopardize AACSB accreditation. Now, the DMBA program he is proposing is the greatest thing since sliced bread. It is amazing how far he's come.
I want to take this Friday to welcome ED back to the CoB. Only, it's now called DMBA.
A vote on the record for no confidence, or against the DMBA, is more on the record than the CoB has on the record toward AACSB accreditation. Yet another reason to lack confidence in Doty.
Unfortunately, Prima Face-Off may be predicting the future. Apathy and indifference may well win the day for digital Doty. The management and marketing department vote, which was held by email (and thus not anonymous) and well after the CoB graduate committee vote, was strongly in favor of the digital classes.
It's easy to get a vote to swing your way if you use intimidation tactics. I hope the graduate council will look at this turn of events under their most powerful microscope.
"I've always said if something's really a touchy issue and I've got half the votes plus one, it's not time to move on that . . .that idea is . . . even if it's a great idea, even if I truly believe in it, it's not quite time to pick it yet . . ."
He needs something close to a victory at the department level for all departments, and there is more to the story than can be revealed at this time. It's good. Soon.
Unfortunately, it appears the CoB graduate committee will meet on Wednesday to reconsider digital MBA classes. According to rumor, they will vote on several issues including: 1) rescind the graduate committee vote previously taken on the 500 and 600-level digital MBA classes, 2) rescind the graduate committee vote previously taken which approved the hybrid MBA program, and 3) approve all MBA 500-level classes for digital delivery. The argument for digital delivery of 500-level classes will be that the CoB does not have enough students in 500-level classes to justify having a faculty member teach the class in a classroom. I wonder who will show up to vote.

Then drop the programs supported by the 500-level classes.

#2 actually rescinds any/all previous motions/votes supporting online, hybrid or digital programs. If the motion passes, it limits the digitization to only 500-level ("bridging" or "leveling") courses and prevents the "real" MBA (i.e., 600 level) courses from going to ANY type of alternative delivery system. If I read it right, it essentially prevents the entire MBA program from going online.

The meeting is open to all faculty so why don't you show up for the meeting? Rumour is the Dean will not be there and the committee would welcome yours or any facullty members input. Bring a firend and participate in the faculty governance process. I bet you will be welcome.
