BOARD WILL CONSIDER NEW DEGREE PROGRAMS, HEAR ANNOUNCEMENT OF HALBROOK AWARD WINNERS
11/11/2005 (JACKSON ) - In its regular monthly meeting next week, the Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning will consider new degree programs at Mississippi Valley State University and The University of Southern Mississippi, as well as hear the announcement of winners of the 2004-2005 Halbrook Awards for academic achievement among athletes. In addition, 3,379 individual degrees have the potential to be conferred system-wide in December, 2005.
Committee meetings will take place on Wednesday, November 16, beginning at 1:30 p.m., and the full Board meeting will take place on Thursday, November 17, 2005 at 8:30 a.m. All meetings will be held in the Board Room of the IHL Education and Research Center, 3825 Ridgewood Road in Jackson.
Wednesday, November 16, Committee Meeting Schedule
1:30 p.m. Educational Policies and Programs. The agenda will include degrees to be conferred in December, 2005, a proposed amendment on minimum teacher education standards, new degree programs and other business. 2:15 p.m. Budget, Finance, and Audit. The agenda will include approval of amendments to financial policies, a proposed requested escalation of the budget for Mississippi Alcohol Safety Education Program (MASEP) authorization levels, approval of contracts and other business. 2:45 p.m. Real Estate and Facilities. The agenda will include approval of initiation of projects, construction documents, award of contracts and other business. 3:30 p.m. Legal. The agenda will include an informational Ayers update, reports of payments to outside counsel and other business. 4:30 p.m. Governance. The agenda will include consideration of amendments to policies on meeting rules of order and other business.

8:30 a.m. Committee Reports and Recommendations. Personnel/Foreign Travel. The agenda will include a discussion of personnel matters, foreign travel requests at the universities and other business.
