HEADWAE Higher Education Appreciation Day - Working for Academic Excellence
Each year the Mississippi Legislature sponsors the HEADWAE (Higher Education Appreciation Day - Working for Academic Excellence) in Jackson, Miss. Activities for HEADWAE are coordinated by the Mississippi Association of Colleges and are supported by the corporate community.
An outstanding faculty member and an outstanding student from each participating member institution of the Mississippi Association of Colleges will be recognized during the HEADWAE events. Southern Miss representatives will be selected in November 2005.
Faculty members submitting applications for HEADWAE should send a current vita and a two-page summary of the applicant's major contributions to Southern Miss in the areas of teaching, research, and service. A cover letter addressed to Provost Jay Grimes should be included, indicating the desire to apply and the faculty member's name, title, department, college, years of service at Southern Miss, and years of service in higher education. Submissions are due in the Provost Office by noon on Friday, November 4, 2005.
In November 2005 an outstanding faculty will be selected to represent Southern Miss at the Appreciation Day and will be recognized by the Mississippi Legislature during the HEADWAE ceremonies in Jackson on February 28, 2006.
